The father of Nic Sheff. Through hard times, David had always been there for his precious son. He spent day and night worrying over his beautiful boy. Days on end, he had been trying to get Nic into rehab repeatedly in countless ways. He even risked his own life to get his son to a better and safer place. He has been and will always have hope for his son to get sober and stay that way.

Near the end of the memoir, David Sheff still has hope. He believes that Nic will get better and wake up from his drug addiction soon. No matter what will happen, no matter how long it takes, David still believes that Nic will get better and become his beautiful son like he used to.
